Opera Gloves in Pin-Up Photos of the 1950's and 1960's, Part 6
Calendars and paintings, of course, were not the only source of pin-up art during the 1950's and early 1960's. There was a lively trade in pin-up photographs, whether of movie starlets, burlesque dancers, or just plain pretty ladies - many of them wearing opera gloves! In this specific gallery, most of the opera-gloved women are burlesque dancers of the late 1940's through the early 1960's - the era, that is, when striptease really was striptease, and the mere act of removing an opera glove was stunningly erotic (cf. Rita Hayworth in "Gilda").
