Gloria Swanson was one of the greatest stars of the silent era, though she unfortunately went into eclipse when talkies came around. However, she made one of the greatest comebacks of all time as the tragic Norma Desmond in "Sunset Boulevard", from which many of the pictures in this gallery are drawn. The only thing that can really be said is to quote Norma herself: "I'm still big - it's the pictures that got small."
