Around 1955, the classic female-ensemble movie "The Women" was turned, with good success, into a musical, "The Opposite Sex", which tells the story of how one woman (June Allyson) outwits another (Joan Collins, in one of her first roles), to get her husband back with the help of her friends. While opera gloves aren't seen much in the movie except in the climactic scene, gloves of various lengths are very prominently featured as an integral part of the actresses' chic 1950's fashions.
