The great comedy director Preston Sturges particularly enjoyed having gorgeously dressed people in absurd situations, as can also be seen in the "Unfaithfully Yours" vidcap galleries. In this 1941 film, Barbara Stanwyck played a cruise-ship cardshark and conwoman who fell hard for the young Henry Fonda. This scene shows Stanwyck, in white kid opera gloves, running a scam on Long Island swells in which she purports to be an English noblewoman (and runs into Henry Fonda, who unfortunately gets at least three different outfits spoiled due to spills!)
