The mid-'50's movie "Desiree" starred Jean Simmons opposite Marlon Brando's Napoleon as Desiree Clary, the great love of Napoleon's youth who rejected his marriage proposal and went on to marry a man who would become one of Bonaparte's greatest enemies, Marshal Bernadotte (who was, himself, to become King of Sweden). In this sequence, Desiree (in white long-sleeved gown with white kid opera gloves and feathered headdress) is at a grand ball at which Napoleon puts in an appearance with his second wife, Marie Louise, and his infant son, the King of Rome.
